Conducting, Exchanging, and Applying Research
The Center for Health and Safety Culture (CHSC) conducts basic and applied research into the definition, measurement, and transformation of culture relevant to health and safety issues. Our research is based on theories from psychology, sociology, and anthropology that address the role of culture in individual and organizational decision-making.
We engage researchers across the country and around the world in our efforts to ensure we are using the most current and valid methods. Virtually all of our research is conducted in partnership with various community, state, and national organizations who are seeking to improve health and safety using cultural strategies. In each project, we apply what we have learned in the past and seek to better understand these complex issues to improve our futures.
