Nicholas J. Ward, Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Director of the Center for Health and Safety Culture gave a short overview of his research in Roberts Hall in the Fall of 2015.

Quality of life is affected by many behaviors that we deliberately engage in that are unhealthy or unsafe.  The Center for Health and Safety Culture (CHSC) looks at the role of the social environment to improve quality of life by promoting healthy and safe behaviors.  This presentation gave an overview of ways in which the social (and physical) environment can be designed to promote healthy and safe behaviors.
