This project seeks to increase safety belt usage among commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers. The focus of this work will be to move from the reasons why drivers don’t wear seatbelts towards strategies to motivate behavioral change. MOST of Us will begin by conducting a review of the literature on CMV seatbelt usage, and then do formative research to identify the causes and locations of CMV driver seatbelt non-usage. MOST of Us will translate these key research findings into recommendations for action and future research to increase CMV driver seatbelt usage.

In addition, MOST of Us will build strategic relationships with key agencies and Montana trucking corporations in order to assess barriers to CMV driver seatbelt use, identify solutions and address stakeholder perspectives.
